Flavours of Patriotism: The Little Chefs of BMS Plate an Independence Day Spread

  Independence Day 2026

Independence Day week at BMS came with an extra ingredient: the kitchenette. In their ongoing culinary classes, the school’s little chefs stepped in with the spirit of independence — grating carrots, slicing cucumber, and working their way through a tricolour-themed spread one canapé at a time: saffron carrot ribbons, white cottage cheese and cucumber rounds, and green cucumber curls, all skewered together on the plate.

Older students pitched in too, arranging citrus segments into a flower on a second plate and finishing the class with a hand-painted saffron-white-green plate paired with a mango barfi square. The result, revealed in the second clip above, was a colourful, edible tribute to freedom, creativity and culinary fun — proof that patriotism and a steady hand with a toothpick can share the same plate.
