Who knew a little petroleum jelly could unlock the secrets of a leaf? Our Grade 8 young scientists got hands-on with Biology as they explored the rate of transpiration using the petroleum jelly method.

By coating different surfaces of leaves and observing the changes, students discovered how stomata play a vital role in the loss of water through transpiration.
