A Tiny Window into the World of Cells: Grade 6's Onion Peel Experiment
21 August 2026
Our Grade 6 students stepped into the fascinating microscopic world by preparing a thin onion peel and observing it under a microscope.
With curiosity and excitement, the students carefully prepared their slides, added the required stain, and viewed the onion cells through the microscope. They were amazed to see that the simple onion peel was made up of many tiny, neatly arranged cells.
This hands-on experiment helped students understand that cells are the basic units of life, and gave them an opportunity to connect their classroom learning with real scientific observation.
A simple onion peel became a window into the hidden world of life!
