Roots and Shoots: First Step Explores the Farm

First Step Juniors, Seniors and Grade 1 swapped the classroom for the outdoors this week with a field trip to a farm nearby. Walking through rows of vegetable beds and along garden paths, the children explored the natural surroundings and got a first-hand look at plant and vegetation life in a way no textbook page can match.

Crouching among the crops, they observed different plants and vegetables up close, talking with their teachers about how each one grows and why caring for nature matters. A simple walk through a farm turned into a hands-on science lesson, connecting what the children learn in class with the world growing right outside it.
