On 21 August, BMS held its annual fire safety drill, giving students from First Step all the way to the senior grades a hands-on introduction to fire safety, conducted in partnership with the fire safety team from ABC Fire.

Students gathered in batches across the campus as the visiting team explained the basics of how a fire extinguisher works and the correct technique to use one — pulling the pin, aiming at the base of the flame, squeezing the handle, and sweeping side to side.

The highlight of the drill was a live demonstration: a controlled fire was set alight on a trolley, and students watched as it was put out in seconds — a vivid, memorable way to see just how effective the right technique and a steady hand can be.

Drills like this are part of BMS's ongoing effort to make sure everyone on campus, from the youngest First Step student to the oldest in senior school, knows exactly what to do and how to stay calm and safe in the event of a real fire.
